By Jordan Jeffus, Austin, TXI saw “Where the Wild Things Are” last night and had to share this tasty tidbit with you all. I’m no movie critic, so I’ll give a few main points and then move on to what I know – the music.
The movie starts out with a cute little boy who is alone in the world. He gets in a fight with his mom and runs off – to a magical land. You’ve read the book, you know the plot. and The Kids. Yeah, Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs – one of the best performances of ACL this year.
The compositions are absolutely perfect for the movie. There are slow, quiet piano notes when a character experiences sadness and fast, upbeat jams when the monsters are happily running through their “kingdom.” Each track has the insanely awesome of Karen O – some with sweet, meaningful lyrics and some with
You can listen to the soundtrack here.
Another fun tidbit – the voice of one of the main characters, Judith, is done by the mom from Home Alone…KEVIN!
