[Vulture] The Social Network Will Open the New York Film Festival

A week before its October 1 national premiere, David Fincher's The Social Network — a very dramatic telling of the origins of Facebook starring indie heartthrob Jesse Eisenberg — will open this year's New York Film Festival. Says producer Scott Rudin: "This is the rare example of a movie that is about something that is happening at this very moment ... It’s about ambition, it’s about greed. It’s about betrayal.
